Our Eye Examinations |
|
|
The doctors
eye exam will determine if you need refractive
correction for Myopia(nearsightedness), Hyperopia(farsightedness),
astigmatism, or presbyopia. The exam also includes testing for eye alignment, peripheral
visual field, glaucoma, cataracts, and corneal
disease. Dilation of the eye will also aid
in the diagnosis of any present peripheral
retinal disease. Dr. Davis will talk with
you about each aspect of this exam and be
happy to answer any questions you may have.

Sports
Vision |
|
|
Sports Vision is a specialty in
Optometry that evaluates the role
your eyes play in sports performance.
Eye tracking, eye position, eye/hand
coordination, eye focusing, and
dominant eye awareness are important
visual skills that affect performance.
All athletes need athletic ability
to play their game effectively.
What many athletes do not realize
is that visual skills play an
important role in allowing that
ability to be used effectively.
Giving extra attention to your
vision may give you that edge
you need! Through our Sports Vision
evaluation and training program
you will ensure optimum visual
performance. |

| Vision Therapy |
| The Myth About 20/20
20/20 doesn't mean perfect vision. It means that vision is good at a distance. It doesn't test how well near vision is, or how well vision functions. There are many other qualities of vision not evaluated by the standard "20/20 test". For example: eye focusing, eye coordination, eye teaming (binocular vision), visual perceptual skills or color vision.
Problems in the above areas of vision can cause symptoms for children in school as well as adults in the workplace. See the “symptom questionnaire” for a comprehensive list of symptoms.
Vision therapy or visual training is the part of optometric vision care devoted to developing, improving and enhancing people's visual performance. Optometrists use visual training and appropriate lenses to: prevent vision and eye problems from developing, develop visual skills needed to achieve more effectively at school, work or play, enhance functioning on tasks demanding sustained visual effort, or to remediate or compensate for vision and eye problems which have already developed. For more information, see “www.covd.org“.
At our East Limestone office, Dr. Kennedy can perform a comprehensive eye exam to determine if any of these problems exist. We then can prescribe a computerized home vision therapy system which can be modified for an individual’s specific needs. |
